Types of Target audience:
Main-streamers - Seek security and tend to be domestic conformist and conventional. Prefer value for money items and family products. eg. Board games and supermarkets such as Aldi.

Aspirer's- Seek Status. They are materialistic and image orientated. They are more bothered about the packaging than the content of the product. Typically the younger generation in jobs such as sales. Products there are interested in are things such as the latest shoes and fashion items.

Resigned- Seek control. They have strong goals, confidence and work ethic. Their brand choice is based on quality and self reward. Typically in  higher management or professionals. eg BMW and holiday homes.

Explorers- Seek discovery. They enjoy being individualistic and new experiences. They are the first to try new brands, usually younger demographic eg students. products such as drones would be aimed at them.

struggler's- Seek escape .They are alienated and have few resources. Brand choice involves impulse and sensation. eg junk food, alcohol and lottery tickets.

Reformers - Seek enlightenment, have social awareness and independent judgement.

Where my music video fits in:-

Aspirer's- Seek Status. They are materialistic and image orientated. They are more bothered about the packaging than the content of the product. Typically the younger generation in jobs such as sales. Products there are interested in are things such as the latest shoes and fashion items.

We think this because the band we are using is 'Little Mix' who appeal to the younger generation and are therefore looked up to. The band also create trends due to celebrity endorsement therefore linking in with materialistic. This could be things such as modelling for nike on instagram posts or wearing items of clothing on live shows.

'Salute'- Little Mix: Analyses

Costuming;
The use of dark costuming and makeup continues throughout the music video, this helps to show the audience that their characters haven't changed allowing fluidity and understanding. The dark colours also portray another side to the girl group as it is very different compared to their many other music videos that are usually very 'girly' and relaxed. However this video uses the colours as a way of showing power. I will use this in my music video by incorporating dark colours to not only show power, but also to go against the stereotype of 'girly' colours. Although makeup is seen as feminine we will be using this to characterise the girls in order to give the video meaning.

Mise en scene-
Throughout the music video the production company uses dark setting to match the costuming so i will consider this when choosing my destination. The light helps the effects on the camera for example the opening shots where the girls appear as silhouettes. I will attempt this by putting the characters on camera with the light behind them. The video also gives an industrial and abandoned feel to it as the areas are empty. To use this in my work i will try and get destinations that don't have any other people in the background. To do this i am looking at using a field out of the way from town so it will be empty.

Dance routine-
This Video is very performance based using both lip syncing and dance routines. We will include both of these in our music video to make it look more professional. I also notice that the dance moves are repetitive in the music video, We will use this in our text in order to create a gimmick. For example a dance routine that can be easily learnt by the audience.

Editing:
This music video uses the tempo and beats of the audio this makes it more effective and fluent as the editing matches the song. I have looked into different creative ideas for my editing and have tested them out before making the real thing.

Filming the field scene

On this day we walked to the farm land in Hopwas where we filmed the boot camp scene. The cast included:
~Owen Sutton
~Matt Wills
~Ed Dutton
~Harry Coats
~Ellesse Tunnicliffe
~Alex Wakeling

Here we filmed a lip sync of the whole song (so the editing is much simpler) and also clips of the boys doing exercise etc to fill in the gaps. This was the first day we used the Canon DSLR camera as well as the Sony digital camera. This meant we were able to get good quality footage and we were able to understand how to use it and the quickest way to set up and pack away. As the field was so open, the natural light helped out greatly in order to make sure our images were clear. It was also out of the way of traffic and foot paths so the area was clear which made the scene look more professional as there was no unwanted people in the background.

An obstacle that we faced on this day was the 3rd girl we planned on using. We planned to start filming from 1-3 with 1-2 dedicated to the boys and 2-3 focussing on the parts with the girls. However the 3rd girl didn't arrive till 2:55 which left us in an awkward situation. We then attempted to quickly film some parts as we were under a time limit. When it came down to it the 3rd girl wasn't able to lip sync and therefore couldn't complete what we wanted her to. In the end we decided to go home and come back to it another day. Since then we made the decision to only use 2 girls and will come up with a way to film the dance scene without it looking empty with just 2. Maybe using the boys in the background or even finding a group of people to be behind. However we have decided how we will adapt the whole video to suit 2 people.

Filming the Mechanic and builder scene

This day of filming was originally meant for the field scene, however the morning came and it was raining. Although it cleared up later on, we decided not to film those scenes as we would have been filming on grassland and it would have therefore been a risk to dance on it when wet. Then another  obstacle came when some of the cast members couldn't make it to film alternative scenes. So because i wanted something to edit as proof of work being done, i decided to use my own camera and tripod and film me as the mechanic on my own. This went well as decisions were made quicker as i was the only one doing it, and also it saved embarrassment.

Once I had done this i then went round to ellesses house as she was still available that day. Here we filmed the builder scene which was useful because her dad had equipment we could use such as work wear. This took about 40minutes to film as although we knew what we were doing, we had to figure out how we could get the lighting on our side due to it being filmed in a shed.

Communication

In order to have communication with our cast we have created a group chat to keep everyone updated on times, places and costuming for filming.
