'Salute'- Little Mix: Analyses

Costuming;
The use of dark costuming and makeup continues throughout the music video, this helps to show the audience that their characters haven't changed allowing fluidity and understanding. The dark colours also portray another side to the girl group as it is very different compared to their many other music videos that are usually very 'girly' and relaxed. However this video uses the colours as a way of showing power. I will use this in my music video by incorporating dark colours to not only show power, but also to go against the stereotype of 'girly' colours. Although makeup is seen as feminine we will be using this to characterise the girls in order to give the video meaning.

Mise en scene-
Throughout the music video the production company uses dark setting to match the costuming so i will consider this when choosing my destination. The light helps the effects on the camera for example the opening shots where the girls appear as silhouettes. I will attempt this by putting the characters on camera with the light behind them. The video also gives an industrial and abandoned feel to it as the areas are empty. To use this in my work i will try and get destinations that don't have any other people in the background. To do this i am looking at using a field out of the way from town so it will be empty.

Dance routine-
This Video is very performance based using both lip syncing and dance routines. We will include both of these in our music video to make it look more professional. I also notice that the dance moves are repetitive in the music video, We will use this in our text in order to create a gimmick. For example a dance routine that can be easily learnt by the audience.

Editing:
This music video uses the tempo and beats of the audio this makes it more effective and fluent as the editing matches the song. I have looked into different creative ideas for my editing and have tested them out before making the real thing.
